Umeeverse, we’ve made it to the end of the year! 2021 was a year of progress and building, especially with the formation of Umee. As we set our sights on launching mainnet, we’ll take this time to review what’s been going on in the Umeeverse and what’s to come. 2022 is the year our cross chain DeFi hub makes waves across crypto and we’re glad you’re all along for the ride. Here’s to a happy, healthy, and prosperous new year! Without further ado, here’s Umeeverse Newsletter #5, enjoy.

Coinlist Record

We are proud to announce that Umee has recorded the highest number of registrants in the history of Coinlist! Below are some numbers from the token sale:

  • $32 mm of the native UMEE token sold
  • Nearly 1 million registrants (922k registrants)
  • 64,000 new token holders added to the Umee blockchain
  • Read the blogs here for full details.

Keplr Integration

  • Umee is proud to integrate Keplr wallet, making it one of the wallets that will be supported at launch.
  • Through this integration, users will be able to transact, stake, and participate in the Umee governance via the Keplr web and mobile wallets.
  • Read the blog here for full details.

Beta Webapp

  • Last week, we leaked a small preview of the webapp for our community to see. The community’s excitement is palpable!
  • We’re glad to see the desire to utilize the webapp. We’re testing the platform internally. Once we finalize our team review, it will be ready for the community to play around with.
  • Look for a release date in the coming days. You won’t want to miss it!

Umeevengers Competition Phase 2

  • A new set of Umeevengers have been assembled! The Phase 2 adversarial testnet is active and week 2 is currently underway.
  • While the tasks for week 2 are being worked on, week 1 focused on validators successfully stress testing Umee’s gravity bridge and peggo implementation by sending a multitude of transactions.
  • The gradual increase in transactions proved the durability and reliability of Umee’s bridge. Many validators excelled here and have very much enjoyed testing while proving the efficiency of Umee’s bridge.

Listing on CoinGecko and CoinMarketCap

  • Umeeverse, we know you’ve been asking where we would list our token information and we are currently on both CoinGecko and CoinMarketCap.
  • As a reminder, add Umee to your watchlist as the Umee token has not yet been issued. We’ll update the community as we have more information regarding listings/exchanges in the coming weeks!

Community Events

  • Earlier this month, we released the first Umee Puzzle event and it was a hit! We saw the community come together, tease their brain, and have some fun.
  • We have a busy start to 2022 planned, so make sure you watch Umee’s social media channels closely for any upcoming events — for BOTH technical and non-technical folks!

Community Appreciation

  • In the spirit of the holiday season, we conducted a follow back event on Twitter. Being able to interact with our followers and do our part to make their holiday better is the least we could do. No worries if you missed out on this one, we’ll be sure to do it again in the future!
  • And, where would we be without our top contributors?! As an expression of gratitude, we rewarded those who have gone above and beyond to help Umee along its journey so far. The passion and hard work these community members have exhibited just further what Umee is all about: helping each other to change DeFi as we know it. Representation matters, and we’re glad to highlight them.

Umeeversity Quizzes

  • Earlier this month, we finalized our first #UmeeversityQuiz and gave out a pretty cool reward while we were at it.
  • We’re going to bring them back in 2022, so be prepared, study, and get those high scores!
  • If you need studying materials, make sure to get all your official Umee information at the documentation section of our website!

Hiring

  • We are actively hiring front-end engineers, devrels, dev ops, technical writers, DeFi analysts, community moderators, and many more. If interested, write to us through hr@umee.cc.

Chjango Unchained Interview

  • Earlier this month, Umee’s CEO/Founder Brent Xu sat down with his dear friend and colleague, Chjango. Their wide-ranging and expansive conversation covered all things Umee and got into the details of how cross chain borrowing and lending work. Watch it here.

Linktree

  • As we gear up for mainnet launch, there will be a significant increase in scams and false information regarding Umee. That is why we set up our official Linktree. Here, you will find all of Umee’s official social channels where you can find all official updates and news. If the information does not come from us, treat it as fake. Stay safe!

Reddit

  • Our Weekly Discussion threads are released Wednesday mornings. Go here for this week’s thread and make sure you ask any questions you may have on Umee!

Community Contributions

  • With so much happening in the Umeeverse, we’re always looking for community members to contribute. Whatever your strong suit is — content creation, translation, answering FAQs, etc. — we want to hear from you!
  • Make sure you go to the #Things-I-Can-Do Discord channel and let us know how you’d like to help Umee.

And if you’ve read this far, let us know and drop a wave emoji in the #general channel on Discord!

From the Umee team to you — have a safe, healthy, and happy New Year! Here’s to the future!
